Many people are praying prayers, even dangerous prayers, that God will never answer. Why? …because it is not inline with His word. God will not step outside of His word to please anybody. He is not a respecter of persons (Acts 10:34) and most of all “He has exalted His word above His name” (Psalm 138:2). Another group of people are praying careless prayers without expectations; while others, on the other hand, are simply praying empty prayers, prayers with no content whatsoever. How then do we expect God to answer our prayers?
One might argue that John 14:13 says to ask anything and we shall receive; however the word “whatsoever” is not all inclusive. For example, James 4:2, 3 says, “You do not have because you do not ask, you ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly to spend it on your passions.” 1 John 5:14 also says “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us:…”
Simply put, you will not ask whatsoever you want if you are in line with God’s will. Some examples of asking outside of God’s will is: “praying selfish prayers, prayers that serve your private satisfaction, wicked prayers, etc.
Remember God does not answer the prayer of the wicked (John 9:31), so why should He answer wicked prayers prayed by those who say they are with God? It’s the same thing. God is a just God and will not stop being just because of you.
Now we know that God hears not sinners: but if any man be a worshiper of God, and does his will, him he hears. – John 9:31
Examples of wicked Prayers
- You cannot pray that God will cause you to be divorced or that your husband would cheat on you so that you can get away from the marriage. Your prayers should be focused more on “changing the man or changing the situation or God’s intervention” for good.
- You cannot be praying that a married man wouldl leave His wife and marry you.
- You cannot decide on your own to pray for God to kill someone so that you can have peace of mind. Instead you can ask God what His will is concerning the matter. You can pray for the judgement of God and for understanding..but let God do the final judging as to whether that person should die or not. Interesting, it could be part of God’s plan for that person to die but it shouldn’t come from your will, let it be His will. Read the book of Exodus.: it was all God’s plan to execute the Egyptians, not Moses.
Clearly all of these kind of prayers are selfish prayers and are considered wicked in the sight of God because they are rooted in “selfishness”, and not in His love. Also remember that God also loves that misbehaving husband of yours. And even if these things happen (as you have prayed), it doesn’t mean that God answered your prayer, it is the devil taking advantage of you and your situation and God is leaving you to your desires and lusts (Romans 1:24) but they are certainly not His will or what He would want for you. This is one of the reasons why we must pray according to His will.
“How can we know what God wills to do in response to prayer… so that we can ask him and trust him for it?”
If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honor. – John 12:26
PARAPHRASED: Jesus said in John 12:26 that “if you follow Him (by doing His will, obeying His word, His ways, etc), wherever He is, there you shall be. Basically this is confirming that indeed if you follow Jesus (as paraphrased above), you will have the mind of Christ & if you have His mind (manifested) then you will know the will of God concerning you and your prayers.
In this place lies the answer many people are seeking and until you get here, you will keep asking for what has already been answered – just by knowing His will/word.
Bible: A Legal Representation of Spiritual Laws
If you read your bible carefully, you will see that Jesus makes specific reference to praying according to His will and, not only that, we are to pray abiding in Him. He also said if you abide in me then you will know what my mind is concerning any matter and whatever you ask in my name (with that understanding) you will receive.
Praying With Boldness & Receiving Answers
First of all, realize that when you ask, you ought to receive something. It may not be the answer you were hoping to get but God does not ignore His children. He is also not silent to His own, He never keeps you in darkness so if you are not hearing anything, it is not that God is not speaking…you are just not hearing or understanding what He is saying. So when you pray, answers definately come, you just have to know what the answer is. Have you ever stopped to take yourself out of the equation and think that the answer to your prayer may not even be what you are asking for ? Is the answer simply YES, NO, or I HAVE HEARD YOU?
What is An Answer?
Dicionary.com defines it in the following ways:
So God can give you an answer through someone, while you are praying or through a dream or vision (letter)
a correct response to a question asked to test one’s knowledge.
You prayer request may just be a question that needs an answer. For example, you may be asking God a question about something you are going through and seeking understanding and He would let you know that what you were going through was just to strengthen you but you will have to continue until you were strengthened.
While praying, you may ask God for His consuming fire and begin to feel the manifestation after you do. You may also not feel anything at that particular point, but by His will and grace, He may choose to give you an encounter with His burning fire many days later.
Perhaps you are trying to solve a problem but don’t know how. When you pray God grants you solution by fixing it for you or giving you the solution to the problem either directly or indirectly.
a reply to a charge or accusation.
Law. a pleading in which a party responds to his or her opponent’s statement of position,
While praying the word of God will stand for you against any charges laid against you by the evil one. You may not even know what God is doing on your behalf but He hears you, answers you and delivers you from trouble – without your knowledge.
How Do We Pray Then?
Considering the meaning or definition of “an answer” above, it is clear that God can answer prayers through any means. Matter of fact, the answer to your prayer may be God saying to you “I cannot answer that prayer because it is a selfish prayer”. He does this by revealing your heart to you. The answer to your prayer could also be God sending you angels to minister to you and to help you grow in love/spiritual so that you can understand how to pray next time, etc. Thus…the number key to “how to pray” is in His will”.
The Key Condition: According to God’s will
The key to getting answers to prayers is “praying according to God’s will…for this is your confidence. Ask in the will of God. What does the word of God say?… that is His will for the most part. I said for the most part because even if His word says He will do whatever you ask in His will, some requests may mean that you ‘d have to wait until you are old enough spiritually to handle what you are asking for.
For Example: Let’s assume you ‘ve a child & you know full well that your child does not know how to use a gun, would you give him a gun? Of course not! In the same vain, many people cannot manifest power or cannot be given certain things at the time they ask for it because if God activates that within them, they would kill people with it and even kill themselves. God also sees the heart and knows what you would do with what you are asking for (In His will or for wicked/selfish reasons.)
Knowing The Will of God
You cannot know the will of God without knowing His word, so you must spend time in the word and use the word as your evidence for why God must do or is committed to do what you have asked for. Even when the enemy tries to steal your blessings from you, you can still stand upon that word – knowing that God is committed to do what He has said He will do.
When You Pray, Have Faith, Doubting Nothing
The problem is never faith or having enough faith, the problem is fear and doubt. Every man has been given a measure of faith but our problem is praying with so much doubt. You have to learn to remove doubt and fear from your faith. Have faith, doubting nothing and you shall receive.
Get Your Answer Now!
If God can ask you to give to your neighbor what your neighbor asks you, then God will not tell you to come back tomorrow for your answer. He will give it to you NOW! Now that you know the definition of “an answer”. Don’t focus so much on the manifestation of your answer that you miss the the most important thing, which is God’s answer to your prayer.
Believe That You Have Received
Don’t confuse the manifestation with the “answer”. When you ask, believe that God hears you and that He will answer you. It is better to hear a word like ” I have heard you” than to focus on the manifestation of the answer because if God says He has heard you then you can be rest assured that He will ensure the manifestation. How To Pray With Expectations & Receive Answers Quick
What is the content? STOP praying empty prayers
As identified by Gary DeLashmutt “there is also much mystery here (i.e., relationship between divine sovereignty and human responsibility—see 1Jn.5:16,17!)”. See why God does not answer some prayers. Clearly, studying the word and doing your part is very vital. You can’t just leave everything to God and say “what will be will be”. You must know the truth and stand upon the truth – demanding an answer and God is faithful to keep His word!
