The Law of Faith: Faith That Produces

Many believers still do not understand faith and what is required to cause it to produce. After reading the Law of Faith by Bishop David Oyedepo, here are a few excerpts from the book and pointers that would help you understand the law of faith and how to get your faith to produce.

Medium of Operation

“To have effectual faith, the Biblical faith that “subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouth of lions” (Hebrews 11:32, 34), you must first know that there are principles guiding its operation. Faith is not something just to be confessed with the mouth, when it is not in the heart.”

“It is built upon the following laid down principles. “Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of Works? Nay: but by the law of faith”. This means faith has to do with observing rules, to get mountains removed from your way. As a believer you need to know the law of faith, just like you need to know the laws of your country, in order not to get yourself in trouble.”

To cause your faith to produce or to increase your faith, you must remain in the word and pray in the Holy Ghost. Give the word of God time to build you up daily, even as you pray in the Holy Ghost – Jude 1. The word of God will not produce except it descends into the heart. It is in the heart that the word is synthesized into a force. The word must also spring from your heart, not from your head or sense knowledge. For it to produce, it must have been in your heart, you must have believed in your heart first.

Make Your Faith Produce

For your faith to produce, actions must follow what you claim to believe. Abraham was fully persuaded that God would do what He said He would do, and to prove this he glorified God. He put action to his believe. When you believe, you speak it, when you truly believe you put action to it.

6 Essential Supplements to Faith

Essential supplements to faith are actions that prove you believe, these essentials will cause your faith to produce results.

God has provided man with the means of acquiring faith and He expects that its entire operation is based on love. This is a fundamental law of the Spirit.

Galatians 5:6 –

Keep To Your Source

As God is the only One who can meet all your needs, it is important that you rely on Him alone. Any move towards getting help from another source amounts to double-dealing, and God cannot perform for people who stand between two opinions.

Psalm 62:5

Psalm 121:2

God is Jehovah El-Shaddai, He is all- sufficient. He is more than enough to meet all situations, all by Himself. He could if He chooses to go through men but He is not necessarily bound to do that.

Be Relaxed

It is worthwhile pointing out that as powerful as faith can be, it is vulnerable to wrong attitudes like anxiety and impatience. Anxiety is borne out of unbelief and unbelief will rob the believer of every promise of God. Impatience is wanting to receive the promise earlier than the divinely appointed time.

Psalm 46:10

Acts of Praise

The Psalmist says “God inhabits the praises of His people – Psalm 22:3. Because “Praise is comely unto the Lord – Psalm 147:1

David cast out devils simply by playing his divine music on a stringed instrument. No devil can stand the face of genuine praise and worship because such a place is exclusively the monopoly of the Almighty.

“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise” (Psalm 100:4)

Abstain From Sin

A man steps into sin, as soon as he steps out of the fear of God. For as long as a man is walking in the fear of God, he cannot at the same time be walking in sin.

Galatians 2:17 –

A major cause of sin in a believers life is lack of attention to the Word of God. The word cleanses, purifies, and makes anew.

1 John 3:9 –

Gladness To Serve

The believer should add to his faith, a willingness and gladness of heart to serve the Lord, in whatever role he or she has been called to play in the body of Christ.
